The New Dojo is splendid with its light green 1200 ft tatami over a
state of the art floor, high ceilings and large windows. The acoustic
during kotodama practice is wonderful and lively.
The new Dojo is larger than the old one with much higher ceilings
to facilitate weapons training. The new 1200 ft Tatami will still be
very gentle and forgiving with lots of cushioning underneath.

the founder of Aikido.
SHOBU means wisdom. Aikido is the study of wisdom and wisdom comes
from understanding , trusting, controlling and seeing yourself clearly,
without this knowdledge you will never be able to control others for
your own protection or for the protection of those whom you love. We
aim high at Shobu Aikido: We wish to follow the true way of the warrior.
To serve and protect society.

Shobu Aikido follows O Sensei's methods of incorporating weapon training
with Tanto, Bokken, and Jo during empty hand practice. Weapon training
enhances our understanding of timing, balance, intuition, body positioning,
distancing and the consequences of careless and aggressive behavior.
Practicing with weapons increases concentration alertness, precision,
and decisiveness. In addition, weapons are a wonderful equalizer.

The first and most essential part of Martial Arts, Especially aikido,
is the cultivation of a calm state of mind. Without this aspect incorporated
into your training you will merely be doing physical activity. Connecting
the Body-Mind through meditation is the true path of Aikido. If you
cannot go into the silence of the mind during sitting Meditation, how
can you expect to be able to perform the right technique at just the
right time to protect yourself or others?
